Research Quality (ERA)
A commitment to high quality, high impact research is ingrained in Swinburne University. Swinburne aims to ensure continued improvement in all areas of research, and hence, foster the culture of research. Swinburne is also committed to being prepared for the Australian Research Councils' Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative.
Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) Initiative
Developed by the Australian Research Council, the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative will assess research quality within Australia’s higher education institutions.
The ARC invited submissions in response to the ERA Consultation Paper, with a closing date of 30 June 2008.
The ARC has developed an extensive list of discipline-specific tiered outlet rankings. The draft list, with all journals and rankings, is available for download below.
The ARC sent a letter to Research Offices on the 21st August. The letter essentially stated the following:
- Publications will be attributed to the location of the researcher at the census date of 31 August 2008.
- All ERA data will be collected at the four-digit Field of Research Code level - NCG data will be required for all discipline groups. and,
- All discipline clusters will be assessed according to a standard reference period (TBA).
