ARC Progress Report Forms
Progress and Final Reports on ARC-funded projects and fellowships are important elements in ensuring accountability and good management of public funding for research. Reports also support research and researchers by drawing the ARC's attention - and the attention of Swinburne Research staff - to concerns and problems that researchers face.
Both progress and final reports are due with Swinburne Research at least 1 week prior to the ARC due date. All reports must be submitted through Swinburne Research. The internal due date for progress reports is 24 January 2008.
Note that the ARC reserves the right to suspend payment of further installments of any current grant until the appropriate reports have been received and assessed as satisfactory.
ARC Progress Reports
The Australian Research Council (ARC) requires an annual Progress Report in respect of each ongoing project, commencing at the first anniversary of the commencement of funding. This means that for a typical three year project, one progress report is due in the January following the first calendar year of funding, and one is due following the second calendar year of funding. Reports must be completed on the proformas provided below. To complete a report, please download the appropriate form and follow the instructions provided at the start of the report form.
Note that the ARC will review the outcomes against the objectives of the Project as stated in the Project Application, or any approved revised budget, aims and research plan. Any Chief Investigator or Fellow whose Progress Report is deemed inadequate or unsatisfactory by the ARC wil be contacted for further information.
If the ARC is not satisfied with the progress of the Project, further payment of funds will not be made until satisfactory progress has been made on the Project. If satisfactory progress is still not achieved, the Funding will be terminated and all outstanding monies recovered by the ARC.
Unsatisfactory progress on the Project will be noted against any further applications under any ARC scheme submitted by, or on behalf of, the Chief Investigator or Fellow and will be taken into account in the assessment of those applications.
For queries in relation to progress reports please contact Gwyn Morgan, Research Administration Manager, gmorgan@swin.edu.au or on Ext. 8069.
ARC Discovery Projects/Large Research Grants/Research Fellowships Programs
ARC Linkage Projects/Strategic Partnerships with Industry Research and Training (SPIRT) Programs
(note that those Linkage Projects/SPIRT projects which involve an APAI element must complete both reports - this is an ARC requirement as prescribed in their Funding Agreement)
ARC Linkage International/International Researcher Exchange Programs
Linkage Infrastructure Equipment and Facilities Scheme (LIEF)
ARC Final Reports
Final Reports are due within six months of the final payment for the Project. This means that for a typical three year project, the final report is due in June following the last calendar year of funding. ARC Final Reports are now completed electronically on the ARC Grant Application Management System (GAMS). You will need your GAMS ID and Password to log on to the GAMS system. If you cannot remember your GAMS details please contact Asha Rawlings, Grants and Publications Coodinator, by email arawlings@swin.edu.au, or phone ext. 8251.
Note that the ARC will review the outcomes against the objectives of the Project as stated in the Project Application, or any approved revised budget, aims and research plan.
If a Final Report is deemed inadequate, the Chief Investigator or Fellow will be contacted for further information. If the ARC is not satisfied with the outcomes of the Project, this will be noted against any further Project Applications under any ARC scheme submitted by, or on behalf of, the Chief Investigator or Fellow and will be taken into account in the assessment of those applications.
Applications under any ARC Program submitted by, or on behalf of a Chief Investigator or Fellow on a Project for which the Final Report is outstanding will be deemed ineligible.
