Research Infrastructure and Equipment Fund Scheme

Scheme Summary

The Research Infrastructure and Equipment Fund Scheme is an internal competitive research support program. Funds for the Scheme are derived from the University's research infrastructure levy on external research grants and will be administered by the Board of Research. The Scheme is designed to provide funding for large equipment and infrastructure which cannot be obtained through the ARC LIEF or similar programs where matching funding is needed or where the equipment must be shared with other institutions.

The objectives of the Research Infrastructure and Equipment Fund Scheme are to:

  • Encourage improved use of medium-large scale University equipment and facilities;
  • Support areas of research strength by improving access to necessary equipment and infrastructure;
  • Improve opportunities for cross-faculty research collaboration;
  • Augment the scale and quality of University research facilities as a means of attracting excellent staff and students;
  • Strengthen the University's ability to undertake high quality research by using state of the art infrastructure of value to industry clients.

Funding

Up to $1.2 million is available in this round, however only a small number of applications are expected to be supported.

Applications must be seeking support of not less than $100,000.
