Visiting Professor Award Scheme

Scheme Summary

The Visiting Professor Award Scheme is an internal competitive research grant program. Funds for the Scheme have been allocated from the Board of Research. It has been introduced to encourage eligible research groups to attract suitable national or international researchers for short term visits to the University during 2008.

The objective of the Visiting Professor Award Scheme is to improve the international research profile of Swinburne with a view to strengthening its standing in a research quality exercise.

The scheme aims to:

  • enhance the quality of research in key areas of research concentration at Swinburne;
  • provide a stimulus to research groups by providing an opportunity for its staff and students to engage with an expert in one or more areas of the research centre or group's research;
  • enable a research centre or group to obtain access to necessary expertise, ideas, techniques or methodologies not otherwise readily available to it;
  • expand opportunities for new or extended collaboration with other researchers and research groups in Australia or overseas (e.g. via joint grant applications, publications, future reciprocal visits or exchanges); and
  • develop the profile of high quality research and researchers at Swinburne and so help to increase the University's ability to attract high quality students, postdoctoral fellows and other research staff from Australia and overseas.
